Description
Micah entered
into a contract
with the US Army
under a
competitively
bid/bonded
solicitation to
perform closure
on regulated and
non-regulated
fuel tanks. The
initial contract
was for twenty
four (24)
non-regulated
underground
storage tanks
(UST) to be
removed, three
(3) regulated
tanks/piping
system to be
removed and
eight (8) above
ground storage
tanks (AST) to
be closed. Upon
completion of
the project a
total of forty
eight (48) tanks
were closed and
properly
disposed.
The project
included the
following
activities:
1.
Pre-construction
meeting with US
Army;
2. Pump,
transport &
dispose of all
fuel product;
3. Surface
demolition &
disposal;
4. Outdoor brick
wall demolition
and replacement;
5. Excavate,
remove, clean
and dispose of
USTs;
6. Collect soil
and groundwater
samples from
excavations;
7. Backfill with
select fill &
compaction;
8. Cut, clean &
dispose of ASTs;
9. Profile,
transport and
dispose of tank
residuals;
10. Site
restoration
(concrete,
asphalt and
landscaping);
11. Regulatory
interface and
reporting;
This project
required daily
communication
with Fort
Jackson
officials and
included many
additional items
that were added
to our contract.
The final
contract value
was $67,000.

Comments
Micahs
flexibility and
commitment to
this project and
its change
orders allowed
the entire
contract to be
completed within
the original
schedule. Micah
was awarded a
letter of
recommendation
from the US
Army.
