Description
Micah entered
into a
bid/bonded
contract with
the Illinois
State Tollway
Authority under
a competitively
bid solicitation
to perform
construction and
remediation
services under
an overhaul plan
for multiple
tollway oasis’s.
This plan
included
demolition and
environmental
remediation
services as part
of the
renovation/new
construction
activities.
The project
included the
following
activities:
1. Numerous
trenching
excavations/UST
piping removals;
2. Surface
demolition,
transportation &
disposal;
3. Excavation &
disposal of over
6,500 tons of
contaminated
soil;
4. Subsurface
utility
relocations;
5. Dewatering
activities(pumped
over 80,000
gallons of
water);
6. Underground
remediation
system piping
installations;
7. Backfill,
compaction and
concrete &
asphalt
replacement
(Highway
Standard);
8. Regulatory
reporting.
The final bonded
contract value
of this project
was $2,100,000.

Comments
This project
required
coordination
with
environmental/civil
engineers and
multiple
construction
trades. All
remediation
efforts were
implemented
under an
aggressive new
construction
schedule.
